“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV)
If you are like me, you might get into a trap like this. I often relate WHO I AM to my CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCE. If I succeed, I am a SUCCESS. If I fail, I am a FAILURE. Example: Yesterday I didn’t eat very well, and so my mind quickly goes to “I am a food failure!”, when, in fact, the week as a whole was fairly decent when it comes to food.
When I get in this mode, I need to remind myself of the verse above. If I’m honest though, I do get a bit frustrated because the “old” doesn’t seem to have gone away. I want change to be IMMEDIATE and FINAL. This is inaccurate thinking.
LIFE IS LESS LIKE A SNAPSHOT, AND MORE LIKE A MOVIE.
This allows us to see the bigger trend of our lives toward freedom in Christ. We are all
IN PROCESS . We are continually moving toward spiritual, mental and physical transformation. For fitness in particular, we MUST NOT LET A BAD DAY OR WEEK TAKE US OUT. Looking back 2 months, 6 months or even a year ago, I recognize that God has shaped and changed in me in SO MANY WAYS. I’m trusting that 6 months from now I’ll look back and say the same thing again: I AM A NEW CREATION.
