Too many people hop on the fitness journey without doing a very short, but CRITICAL step.
TAKE MEASUREMENTS, WEIGHT, AND PICTURES
The reasons why we don’t do this vary. We may not WANT TO KNOW how bad the situation actually is. We might just be lazy and/or not have the equipment to do this with. Or we may have modesty issues with taking pictures of ourselves (bathing suits can be scary!)
3 KEY BENEFITS of assessment:
1. You have a benchmark to know if you are ACTUALLY making progress. And
NOTHING MOTIVATES LIKE PROGRESS.
2. You can make COURSE CORRECTIONS. You may need to adjust your daily caloric intake if you aren’t making progress toward your goal. Often, your calorie count may need to INCREASE in order to move you from a plateau.
3. We tend to look at day-to-day progress, but when people who haven’t seen us in a month make comments like “Wow! You look great!”, this shows why taking pictures early really matters. If I compare myself to yesterday, not much progress, but to 30-60 days ago, BIG CHANGES relatively.
Taking proper measurements/weighing in WEEKLY and taking pictures MONTHLY will greatly help us manage our fitness journey. LET’S GO!
