“Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.” – 2 Corinthians 5:14, 15 NLT
Guess what? For those of us who believe in Jesus, there is a death that happens. Not just once, but DAILY. We are dying to our old selves! We are daily being conformed to the likeness of Jesus.
Our thoughts become His.
Our actions become His.
Our words become His.
We no longer live for OURSELVES! We are living for Jesus and to be His example of how to live a life that follows the Savior.
Questions to ask:
1.Is the example that I am setting with my life worth following? If the people around me (my spouse, my kids, my friends, my co-workers) would follow my life’s example, would that be a good thing? Would they be honoring God? (note to parents: OUR KIDS ARE WATCHING US!)
2. Am I truly allowing God to have complete control over me? Do I truly believe that He can help me to live a healthy lifestyle that honors Him? Or am I trying to muster up enough
“willpower” to do this on my own?
Only in the strength of the resurrected Christ can we make any progress toward our goal of honoring Him with our ENTIRE being!
