I have been invited to give some advice over the next few weeks on Surviving the Holidays on Fox 28’s morning show. In case you missed it, I talked about Thanksgiving this week.
So, did you know…
The average American gains 5-10 lbs over the holidays.
Food is attached to emotions, especially when we return home for something like Thanksgiving. We can revert to bad eating habits, which leads to that weight gain.
Not eating breakfast on Thanksgiving is a no-no.
Our bodies are calorie-burning machines that were created as energy storing units. So, if we go against our metabolism and starve ourselves, any food we do put into our bodies is stored as fat. We need to keep our metabolism stoked to burn calories all day. So, eat a good breakfast every day…even on Thanksgiving! Don’t just think you can save up all your calories for one big splurge meal.
You could gain 40 lbs in 5 years if you’re average.
Let’s say you gain 8 lbs each holiday season over 5 years, that’s 40 lbs. Yikes!! Don’t wait for January 1 to resolve to lose weight. Instead model a healthy, consistent life style every day, even during the holidays. Make good choices now, so you aren’t working from a deficit in the new year.
Let’s vow not to be average this holiday season. I want to help you live out a healthy life, so take a look at my free gift to you that will help you dial in your nutrition and get your body moving. Click this link to receive that bonus content that will help you not be average this Thanksgiving!
