This week on Fox 28’s “Surviving the Holiday” segment, I talked about fitness during the holidays. Don’t wait until the new year to start working out. Get in the rhythm NOW!
To get started:
Know your purpose.
Know why you are working out. Understanding your why and setting goals will lead to greater success.
Make your workouts effective.
The trifecta of strong cardio, strength and stability will make your workouts more effective and lead to a healthier life.
Go short and fast.
For cardio, get your heart rate in the fat burning zone at 70-90% of heart’s capacity to get the most bang for your workout. Long and slow workouts, while better than sitting on the couch, are less effective overall than shorter, faster workouts.
Exhaust your muscles.
When strength training, do enough reps with heavy enough weights to get to the point of muscle exhaustion.
